Trigger Diagnostics

The Trigger Diagnostics tool allows researchers to run an automated inspection of the Trigger Logs to assess the Trigger behaviour.  This inspection will generate a summary of most likely causes of any reported misbehaviours of the Trigger.

When and How to Use Trigger Diagnostics

The Trigger Diagnostic tool should be the first step when exploring any issue reported by a participant or group of participants. It is important to note that the use or repeated use of this tool will not in any way affect the trigger logs.

  1. Select the appropriate Workspace.
  2. Click the "Studies" button.
  3. Open the Study in which the participant(s) are enrolled.
  4. Click the "Participant Activity" tab.
  5. Click the "Diagnose Issues" button. (On the right-hand side of the window, just above the chart of participants, adjacent to the "Export to CSV" button)
  6. Select the Survey in question, the Trigger in question and the trigger issue type. (all from drop down lists)
  7. Select the specific participant(s) who have reported trigger-based issues. (you can also select the all the participants)
  8. Cick the "Perform Diagnosis" button.
  9. Review the Automatically generated report.

Report Content and How to Interpret the Report

The automatically generated report contains:

  • A summary of the criteria upon which the diagnosis was run. [Study ID, Survey ID, Trigger ID, Trigger Type, Issue Type and Participant(s)]
  • A list of issues specific to the participant(s) this list is in the format (Participant - Issue - Details)

Note: It is important to note that the diagnosis tool is analyzing the trigger logs and making the best logical inference of what might be occurring with regards to a participant, their triggers and their device(s). Any discrepancies between the diagnostic and observable behaviour should be reported immediately to support@metricwire.com
