In Customize View a researcher can perform question formatting, change column headers, change default system column headers, device information and trigger information

Customize View Options

Question Formatting:

In question formatting you are able to:

View Choices as Separate Variables: This will treat each choice as a dummy variable. It creates a column for each choice and codes the entry as 1 if the respondent chose that response, or 0 if they did not. Only the following question types can use this functionality:
Single Choice
Checkbox
Sliding Scale
Dropdown
Range Scale (only if View Range Scale as ‘Choice text’ is selected see below)

View Choices as Indices: This will convert the choice(s) chosen for a given response to its choice position. The first choice in the list of choices will be indexed as 0, the second value will be indexed as 1 and so on. The order is based on the order of choices set in adding new questions.

Only the following question types can use this functionality:

  • Single Choice
  • Checkbox
  • Sliding Scale
  • Dropdown
  • Range Scale

View Range Scale Questions: Choose how you want range scale questions to be displayed.
Step Value: Use the minimum and step size for a question to show the value at the step the participant selected.
0 to 1 Raw Slider Position: A value representing the exact position the slider was moved to where the range of the scale is 0 to 1.
Step Number: Zero-indexed value representing which step the participant moved the slider to, (i.e possible values are 0 to [total-steps - 1]).i
Choice Text: Text of the selected choice (Behaves like a regular sliding scale question)
Choice Index: The index (starting from zero) of the selected choice. (Behaves like a regular sliding scale question with View Choices as Indices selected)

View Ranking as Separate columns: Separates ranking responses for each choice option into separate columns. Obviously only works for ranking type questions.

View Latitude and Longitude as Separate Variables: Separates geolocation questions into separate latitude and longitude columns. This only works on geolocation questions.

Display Questions Answered and Updated TimeStamps: For each question produces 4 columns
Answered: time a user answered question, date a user answered a question.
Updated: date and tIme user updated their response to a question(through review screen or by pressing the back button). All questions can have this setting chosen, regardless of type.

Question Column Header:

Use Variable Names for Column Headers: If chosen the column header will be the unique variable name that is assigned to each question. If View Choices as Separate variables is selected the columns produced will have a default column heading of the choice text, the same for view ranking as separate choice. If view latitude and longitude as separate variables the column header will default to the question variablenaem_latitude, and question variablename_longitude.

Default System Variable Column Headers:

This allows you to change and customize the column headers of the following default response system variables:
Response Id
UserId
Survey Started Date
Survey Started Time
Survey Submitted Date
Survey Submitted Time
Time Zone

Device Information:

This option will allow you to decide if you would like to display the default system device information, as well as re-name the device information column header.

Trigger Information:

This option will allow you to decide if you would like to display the default system trigger information, as well as re-name the trigger information column header.

Reset to Default Settings:

This option will allow you to reset your customization to default (ie. the original state).

Note:

Under Global Settings, if any of the above selections are chosen all questions (or all specific question types) will have that setting applied.

You can individually apply certain settings. Within the global setting dropdown, you can select any question and apply custom settings to that question alone. For example: If I have 6 choice questions, but I wish to have 5 of those 6 questions viewed as separate variables, globally I can select view as separate variables and then under the question I wish not to have that setting I can select it from the drop down and turn the setting off. If a question has a separate setting from any global assignment an asterisk will be placed on the side of that question in the drop down.
You are unable to have View Choices as Separate Variables and View Choices as Indices selected at the same time, globally or at the individual question level.

You may change the column headers of the following default response system variables

Response Id

UserId

Survey Started Date

Survey Started Time

Survey Submitted Date

Survey Submitted Time

Time Zone
