Setting Up a Time Use Study

The Time Use feature is similar to setting up a regular mobile study. The question builder and triggers function the same, although there are a few changes in regards to customizing the appearance and functionality of this feature.

Step-by-step guide:

  1. First, name your survey and then specify a starting time for your participants.
  2. If you are studying workday habits, 09:00 might be a good starting time.
  3. Next choose the size of the time-frame intervals that will be displayed to your participants.
  4. The interval sizes available are: 5, 10, 15, 30 and 45 minutes, and 1 and two hours.
  5. Determine the amount of intervals to display. An interval size of 1 hour with 9 intervals will display time slots from 9 am to 5 pm.
  6. You will have the option of displaying a secondary column or only showing the primary column.
  7. This will be determined by the type of survey you create and the data you are looking to collect.
  8. You may also pin questions to both primary and secondary columns. This will display the participant’s answer over the selected block of time.

Primary and secondary questions will allow you to create two separate surveys for the primary and secondary columns. The interface for both of these is the same as the regular question builder. Build your surveys as you normally would.
