Matrix Question Types
MetricWire features the option to include a variety of matrix-style question types. These questions feature the classic column and row configuration with the option to choose between a variety of styles like text or radio buttons. This feature is currently only available for the Participant Portal.
The Matrix Question Type allows the researcher to configure the column and row headings in similar fashion to how question choices are input within the regular question types. There is ample space available to pose a question, as well as the option to input Descriptive Text for additional explanation. The same question settings apply to the Matrix Question Type as are available to regular question types like Time to Answer Question or Private Responses.
Text Matrix
- This allows the participant to fill in each section with a text response
- Each box under a column and row responds like a typical text input box
- A participant needs only to select the box of their choice and input their response via their keyboard
Numeric Matrix
- This question type functions exactly like the Text Matrix but will only accept inputed values that are numeric
Single Choice Matrix
- This question type will display radio buttons for each column and row intersection
- As per the name, participants will only be allowed to select a single radio button per row to reflect their response choice
Checkbox Matrix
- Similar to the Single Select Matrix, this question type will display radio buttons for each column and row intersection
- The dishtinguishing factor of this question type is that it allows for multiple selection of buttons per row
Dynamic Matrix
- This question allows researchers to include multiple matrix styles within one table
- The Matrix Settings will allow you to choose between whether all rows or all columns contain the same data type
- Based upon this selection, you can choose betwen Text, Numeric or Dropdown styling for each choice
- Choices for the Dropdown styling can then be addd upon selection
