Organic Location Setup for Geofence Triggers

MetricWire's Dynamic Triggers allow researchers to prompt participants at locations they have organically chosen. With certain privacy policies or ethics when collecting this information, researchers may want to prompt participants at these particular locations but they do not want to collect the GPS coordinates. MetricWire has the option to enable participants to log their GPS coordinates without the researcher being able to view them.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Create an initial survey where you want your participants to log their location
  2. Create a Geolocation question, and stipulate the location you want your participants to log (eg. work, school, home)
  3. In the Question Settings tab, select the Private Responses tab and enable it
  4. Create a Dynamic Trigger that will prompt based off of location, and point the trigger to the responses from the survey with the Geolocation data.
  5. The platform will recognize your participants' location choice and prompt based upon this location, but the researcher will not be able to identify the GPS coordinates

You should make your participants well aware that while the app will record location data passively, this data is not actually being collected when using the Private Responses tab.
