Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Introduction

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a two step verification process that requires researchers to enter a PIN on the Metricwire Research Portal that is sent via SMS upon entering their username and password. This feature helps Metricwire ensure that the authenticated user is in fact the true owner of the login credentials. Additionally, 2FA helps Metricwire exceed the relevant privacy & security requirements of HIPAA & 21 Part-11, ensure data integrity and most importantly, protect the privacy of your participants.

2FA is mandatory for all Metricwire Research Accounts.

How The Feature Works

Step 1 - Adding Your Phone Number

If you haven't already added a phone number to your profile, you will be prompted to do so the next time you login. For the purpose of 2FA, you must use a number that can receive an SMS message.

This video shows you how to add your phone number after logging into Metricwire:

Step 2 - Login Using 2FA Enabled

Once you have added your phone number to your profile, you will be asked to authenticate using 2FA the next time you login.

  1. Enter your email and password and click the login button.
  2. You will see a new field with the placeholder text 'Enter the 2 Factor Authentication Code Sent Via SMS'
  3. Open your SMS messages for the phone number you have saved to your profile to view the Code.

Here is a video showing the process:
