Question Groups

This feature allows you to divide your current question set into multiple groups. Having multiple question sets may be an advantage in a randomized study as participants will receive randomized question sets.

Question Groups are now displayed on the Add Questions page in the form of a coloured bar on the top right of each question. You can hover over the bar to see which groups the question belongs in and filter the groups using the drop-down menu at the top right hand of the page. The data structure of the groups is now all gathered under the survey settings rather than on the question. In the settings page of each question, it is more convenient since there is a autocomplete when adding groups.

Adding Groups:

  1. To enable Groups first select a question.
  2. In the Question Settings  section scroll to the Groups box, and add in a title or label.
  3. Organize the other questions you wish to be in the same Group, as well as creating any and all other Groups of questions you may need.
  4. Groups may contain overlap if you wish.
  5. Save your progress and return to the Survey Settings page.
  6. Select the option Randomly Trigger a Single Group from the settings page.
  7. This will allow the platform to randomly select which set of questions your participants will be presented when they are prompted.
  8. If this is an ongoing study where you would like your participants to continuously answer the survey they were randomly assigned, select the option Include triggered groups for subsequent triggers.
  9. This will ensure that although the question set was chosen at random, this will be the question set that the participant will be shown every time they are prompted with this survey.
  10. When returning to the Add Questions screen, questions that contain groups will now be shown with colored bars. The platform automatically assigns a random color selection to each group. Questions with multiple Groups will have multiple colors associated with them.
  11. To sort questions based on associated groups, select Filter Groups in the upper right corner. You may now select Groups from the drop-down menu.
